By collaborating with educators at Reservoir Primary School, DesignInc has transformed this 1920s structure into a contemporary learning environment. Their design intent was to promote feelings of ease and calm, with a seamless connection to nature.
The new floorplan uses acoustic treatment and biophilic architecture to create better function and appearance. With walls supported by EchoPanel® 12mm acoustic panels, the interior has been reimagined into an open yet connected educational layout. Soft, curvilinear architectural elements effortlessly blending indoor with outdoor elements, leveraging biophilic design principles. The more fluid and acoustically enhanced nature of the space enables better surveillance of students, while facilitating positive interactions and wellbeing among students and staff.
Using EchoPanel 24mm, acoustic ceiling baffles were installed in various rooms, from common areas to small and large classrooms. They provide character to the ceiling space while combating noise through their high sound absorption rate, assisting teachers to retain their voice, while students are better supported to listen and learn.
Innovative architecture has beautifully restored Reservoir Primary School - preserving heritage elements of existing buildings – while transforming it into a vibrant and exciting learning environment for current and future students. The school is now full of new flexible learning spaces that inspire creativity, engagement and curiosity.
