Located in Melbourne Australia, in Wurundjeri Country, the modernisation of Sunbury West Primary School by VTAS represents a forward-thinking approach to educational architecture. Schools are full of active learning spaces and therefore are susceptible to excess noise, leading to distractions that reduce effectiveness in both teaching and learning. Woven Image’s acoustic finishes played a crucial role in delivering comfort, concentration and community to Sunbury West.
To address acoustic concerns while complementing the schools modern design, EchoPanel® 12mm in Olive (384) and Mushroom (454) colours were used to create circular patterns by colour among the straight cut ceiling baffles. ELS lighting systems were also beautifully integrated with the acoustically treated ceiling.
The upgrade integrates purpose-built general and specialist spaces within the school, improving connectivity between indoor learning environments and the broader community. The new Support Hub stands as a welcoming beacon, defining the entry point and serving as a central place of connection for the wider community engaging with the school. Acoustic treatment addresses excess noise concerns while delivering an invitational atmosphere.
Contemporary educational layouts like Sunbury West, rely on cross-functional spaces that are high in functional benefits, without compromising on design. Woven Image delivers design-led acoustic solutions that deliver stylish sound absorption, helping to create optimal learning environments like this one.
