Artful campuses look up to EchoPanel® custom prints

EchoPanel® 12mm contributes quiet, fun and flexibility in 6 new (2023) primary schools for the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA). Woven Image is proud to have supplied these schools with beautiful acoustic finishes that enhance the education experience of children in the 21st century. EchoPanel® flaunts its functionality as a decorative acoustic ceiling solution, as well as its printing capabilities and ease in custom cutting. It flawlessly complements the total floorplate, as the design of the school seamlessly flows from indoors to outdoors, supporting the social, mental and physical elements of learning. Over 1000 of Woven Image’s acoustic panels were used to combat noise in the bustling and potentially disrupting educational environment. A design that considers the acoustic needs of students creates an environment that empowers students to better learn, across the broad scope of teaching models.
The aim was to deliver engaging and diverse learning environments with sufficient outdoor learning and recreational space, with flexible staff spaces. Designers of this project, ARM Architecture, are known for immersing themselves in the culture, history, usage or environment of a project and incorporating those elements into their design work. A tile tessellation motif is expressed across the campuses, with each school receiving customised graphics in accordance to the unique geographical, historical, and cultural features of its own site and community.
EchoPanel® was among this reflection of culture, with each school receiving a tailored Indigenous artwork, reflecting a key part of their values. The Lollypop Creek Primary School (featured here) was designed using the theme of ‘Aquaculture.’ Inspiration was drawn from the ‘Werribee River System, Woven Nets and Eel Traps’. Responsible for these art pieces is Indigenous Artist, Tammy Gilson from Wadawarung. An exciting mix of colours were selected from EchoPanel®’s extensive colour palette, including lavender, ochre, viridian, magenta and off-white. They bring liveliness to the rooms, making the spaces feel fun for students.
With the growing need for sustainable materials in the built environment, EchoPanel® was a staple choice for a design-led acoustic treatment in a dynamic setting. It’s use of a minimum 60% post-consumer recycled plastics, alongside its lineup of third-party certifications, an independently-audited Environmental Product Declaration (in accordance with ISO 14025:2006, EN 15804:2012 and A2:2019/AC:202), which is recognised by Green Building Tools, including: Green Star, LEED, BREEAM and WELL™, made specifying EchoPanel® in accordance to the VSBA’s Building Quality Standards Handbook an easy choice.
